What does it take to get over a heartbreak? A hand, a marker, 60 meters of paper and the absolute need to keep moving forward. In one overhead take, a single line crosses the map of a breakup: a maze, a closing door, the monstrous couch where every fight ended, a woman’s hand dancing for a moment, a vortex it barely escapes.
Off screen, a crank machine to scroll the paper, designed and built from scratch by a team with no engineer among us. It broke down the day before the shoot and was rebuilt overnight. 3’40”, one take, no room for error: what you see is take three.
